Rose Molepske is kind and caring to patients, families, nurses, and doctors. Rose is so special. She is a role model of excellence on the unit in every category.
*Family and patient-centered care: Rose provides calm and compassionate care. She doesn't wait for patients to come to the Special Care Nursery. Rose goes to the mother/baby to introduce herself, write her name and number on the patient's whiteboard. She reassures the family that their baby, while a patient in the Special Care Nursery, is in excellent hands. This extra step gives the family peace of mind. Rose works with "Knots of Love" to ensure every SCN baby receives handmade hats and blankets. With her own money, Rose purchases and assembles gift baskets at each holiday. She fills the baskets with candy for the Special Care Nursery and post-partum families.
* Rose's clinical skills are exceptional. She is an NRP instructor. She certifies all our nurses and respiratory therapists at Resurrection Medical Center. She leads the SCN competencies (chest tube insertion, vents, central lines, etc.)
* Rose researches. In January, she found a new product to use in SCN. An extra thin NU-DERM dressing used to protect delicate newborn premature skin. She also researched the Medela Waterless Milk inserts to provide the best practice protocols to the SCN nurses.
* Rose is a mentor. She was a preceptor for our new SCN nurse. She provides kind, but thorough training to help new hires develop into excellent SCN nurses.
* Rose is a leader. She is a dependable charge nurse that collaborates well with the Labor and Delivery team.
