My mother had an aortic bypass and after the surgery, she was moved to ICU. I went in to see her and my world stopped. My mother opened her eyes and the look of fear she showed was something I will never forget. I asked her if something was wrong and she nodded yes. I went out and told Rose what was going on. Rose did not question me, she didn't look at me like I was crazy, she just stood up, walked in the room, and went to work. My mom was dying and we as a family believe that Rose saved her life. Rose never panicked and she talked us through everything. Rose showed so much compassion and care at that moment that my fear did not consume me. Rose was supposed to get off work at 7 pm that day, but she stayed until almost 10 p.m. Rose needed to be sure that my mom was comfortable and stable enough for her to leave. My mom had to have a tube placed to drain her stomach and Rose stayed and placed the tube. Rose saved our world. My mom is an amazing soul and Rose made sure to keep her here for us. Rose came in the next morning at 7 am and continued to show the compassion that we all needed to see. My mom was in the best hands in this hospital and we could never thank her enough for what she did. Rose has come in to see my mom and check on us even though my mom is not her patient any longer. I feel that Rose is exactly what all nurses should be. Thank you, Rose, for being you! You are a true DAISY Nurse.
