Roseann is a strong advocate for oncology patients. There is an oncology patient who always requests Roseann. The patient said, "She keeps me at ease because she is very thorough with educating me."
We would like to nominate Roseann for her "can do" attitude and unwavering compassion for the vulnerable and marginalized. Roseann, took a week off from work to help administer Covid vaccine specifically in the poor neighborhood of South LA during the height of the pandemic. She also volunteered a number of hours to Providence St Joe's in Burbank administering vaccines. She attempted to volunteer at St Mary's in Apple Valley but at that time she contracted Covid. Roseann, who has Myasthenia Gravis, did not show hesitation to be on the frontline in caring for patients with Covid. Roseann, partnered with another caregiver from another unit who also has Myasthenia Gravis in allaying fears and hesitation in caring for Covid.
Our unit was one of the units that cared for Covid patients for almost a year during the pandemic. She eased the way of her peers with the rapidly changing information, and updates. She was very proactive in getting the latest with CDC guidelines. During the height of the pandemic, our unit needed more nurses to work at night as we had nurses from special departments able to help out during the day. Roseann was kind enough to move her schedule around. She helped and worked the night shift for about 3 months. Out of the goodness of her heart, Roseann, donated Bombas socks to the caregivers who worked during the Christmas holiday. We found out from Roseann, that she cooks a big meal every Thanksgiving and invites anyone who does not have family to her home with the exception of last year.
At the bedside, Roseann is a strong advocate for oncology patients. There is an oncology patient who always requests Roseann. The patient said, " She keeps me at ease, because she is very thorough with educating me. She makes sure, I understand everything that is happening." We are very humbled to work with Roseann for her generosity, and compassion, and for easing the way of the vulnerable.
