My journey began in 2008 with my first bc diagnosis. Roseanne was a nurse at the ROC and accessed my port on a regular basis. She was always friendly, warm and encouraging. We struck up a friendship and recommended books to each other, and discussed our kids' latest achievements and struggles. Once my treatment was over, I looked forward to my quarterly visits knowing that I would get to say Hi.

In 2013 my re-occurrence had me back at Upstate on a regular basis, and since then I have looked forward to seeing Roseanne every third week. She has helped me through some pretty rough days of treatment and encouraged me at every step. I don't think she even realizes what an amazing person and integral part of my treatment she has become. Her ability to quickly and successfully access my port without causing undo pain is exceptional. Her skills as a nurse are exemplary. But it is her compassion, kindness and warmth that compels me to nominate her for the DAISY Award.
