June 2026 Honoree
Roshanda Connor, RN
Roshanda Connor is an outstanding person who has worked at Bethany/RML for 20 years, and I am honored to nominate her in recognition of the outstanding and exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism she exemplifies and consistently demonstrates to staff and patients.
She is my preceptor. I am a new RN Grad, transferring from a PCT to RN. During my orientation experience, Roshanda went above and beyond what is required and expected of her as a Nurse preceptor. Each day, she gave me all types of reading materials and situations that required me to critically think through each situation and come up with answers dealing with the diagnoses of our patients.
She not only helped me to understand the Importance of knowing the patient's diagnosis and treatment plans but also to listen carefully to the patients' concerns, those who could talk. She would readily answer all of my questions and theirs.
Roshanda showed me how to provide excellent patient care, but she also demonstrated genuine compassion, kindness, and empathy towards them, which left a lasting impression on me. I will continue to care for all patients with knowledge and a caring spirit.
In addition, when as a New RN Grad and I had fears or uncertainty, due to my being a brand-new RN, she brought comfort, reassurance and Dignity to the patients and myself.
Roshanda exemplifies what it means to be a nurse. Her ability to communicate, connect with staff and patients, and put them at ease is a testament to her compassion as a preceptor and nurse on the unit. Roshanda is loved and highly respected by all of her colleagues.
In fact, she is known as a Preceptor, meaning that many of the nurses she has precepted over the last 20 years, when they themselves are precepting, will still come to her for guidance. Roshanda states that she prefers to precept new graduates so that she can help them, through encouragement and training, become highly skilled nurses, able to care for extremely sick patients and manage difficult diagnoses and treatment plans.
During my time precepted by Roshanda, I found that she is also self-motivated; her hobbies include reading, weight training, knitting, and crocheting, and she is also learning to play the piano and taking Korean language training to better understand Asian patients.
Thank you, Roshanda, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
