I am writing to nominate Roshane Williams, a nurse in the CCU. I have had the privilege of working alongside Roshane and witnessing firsthand her exceptional skills, dedication, and compassion. One particularly memorable example of Roshane’s care occurred while she was caring for an elderly patient. The patient was admitted with a seemingly mild complaint of abdominal pain, which rapidly escalated to septic shock, causing a rapid decline in her condition, and ultimately transferring her to CCU. Roshane was responsible for managing the patient’s complex care, including CRRT, continuous monitoring, titration of drips, and imaging procedures.

In addition to her clinical expertise, Roshane demonstrated extraordinary compassion and diligence in providing comfort to the patient’s family. Her patient’s daughters were frequent visitors at the bedside, and Roshane took the time to not only manage the patient’s hemodynamic needs but also provide reassurance and support to her family during this stressful time. Roshane’s care extended beyond her patient to the broader unit as well. She maintained the patient’s hygiene and well-being around the clock with the utmost attention to detail, all while orienting a new staff nurse to the ICU and fulfilling charge nurse duties during many of the shifts I worked with her. Even amidst the demands of the unit, Roshane was always available as a resource to other nurses, offering support and guidance without ever losing her composure.

Her ability to manage multiple responsibilities with grace and skill, along with her unwavering compassion and resilience, are qualities that make Roshane an outstanding nurse. I jokingly asked her when she would be receiving a DAISY Award for her hard work, but I now realize she deserves to be formally recognized for the incredible impact she has on her patients, their families, and her colleagues. Her dedication and compassion truly set her apart, and I can think of no one more deserving of this honor.
