Thank goodness for Rosie! Informed by my family that my mother's clinical status was worsening, I made the decision to make a six-hour drive through the night in order to get to the hospital. During the drive, Rosie willingly spoke to me over the phone giving me updates regarding my mom's status. With all my feelings of uncertainty, I was grateful that Rosie took the extra effort to keep me updated. Once I arrived, she warmly introduced herself and provided me with a review of her clinical status. IV access was a major issue. Rosie worked tirelessly to find "sharpshooters" and ultimately OB anesthesia to help achieve this task!
In addition to Rosie being strong clinically, recognizing when to escalate to physician involvement and thinking "outside the box" to achieve clinical goals when needed, she has an engaging spirit. During this scary encounter for my mom and family, she comforted all of us. What I am most impressed by is Rosie's commitment to being an advocate for my mom. Rosie embodies all of the qualities that are valued and represented by the DAISY Award, making her more than deserving. I am so grateful that my mother had Rosie as her nurse that first night. She truly took care of all of us. Thank you, Rosie!
