Rosita Raye, RN, clinical nurse on HCU, was recognized with the prestigious DAISY Award for not only providing exceptional care but also for going above and beyond to provide her patient and his wife with peace of mind.

Nominated by both her patient and the charge nurse, Rosita's patient commented, "My care by Rosita was always greater than doing her job". The patient, an Orthodox Jew, was admitted to the HCU on a Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath. He was worried his wife would not be able to answer the phone so there was no way he could let her know where he was and that he was safe. Rosita offered to drive to the patient's house after work to let his wife know he was admitted to the HCU and how he was doing. Rosita did just that.

The patient described the care he received from Rosita as exceptional and "beyond one's duties". The patient continued, "Good Sam is truly lucky to have her. She cared for me and my family, both in our physical and emotional health".
