Roslyn Mathie, RN
5 South (General Surgery)
I had another visit from my doctor, but this time, Roslyn was in the room (Thank the Good Lord!). The doctor spoke to me and my family about my surgery, my medications and my restrictions post-op. Roslyn was present the entire time. After the doctor left the room, Roslyn clapped her hands together and said, “Okay, does everyone understand what the doctor said?” I reiterated what I head and my Mom and Dad did the same. Questions came to mind while we were discussing and Roslyn was there to answer them. Because she was present at the same time the physician was, she knew what was said and she knew my treatment plan. It was so comforting to have her there – with answers, with her courteous smile and with her helping hand….As a patient, Roslyn made me feel that I was important to her. I was not just a body in a bed. She made me feel like I was her friend – her family. She is by far THE BEST nurse I have ever had! She was extremely knowledgeable – she knew what she was talking about. She was quick to respond (quite unusual). Her follow through to me and my doctor was so appreciated. MOST nurses are afraid a doctor! – Leaving the patient sitting – waiting for a response from their doctor. Her genuine caring demeanor will ALWAYS be remembered.
