Because of Ross, I went into surgery feeling truly at ease, and that’s a gift I’ll never forget.
I had surgery (Septoplasty, nasal valve repair, turbinate reduction, and more), and from the moment Ross introduced himself as my pre-op nurse, I felt like I could breathe a little easier; ironic, considering it was a nasal surgery! What stood out most was his immediate ability to create a sense of calm, compassion, and safety, not only for me but for my entire family.
Ross was incredibly attentive to every detail, clinical and emotional. He explained everything clearly and with such patience, ensuring I understood the plan for the day and addressing every concern with genuine care. He also made a point to include my family in the conversation, which helped ease their anxiety as well. It was clear that he wasn’t just doing a job; he was offering support, presence, and comfort in a moment that can feel overwhelming. From inserting the IV to preparing me for anesthesia, Ross did everything with skilled hands and a kind heart. He made me laugh when I didn’t think I’d be able to smile, offering lighthearted jokes to break the tension. That balance of professionalism and warmth is rare and unforgettable. I know Ross likely provides this kind of care to countless patients, but that morning, he made me feel like I was the only one who mattered.
Because of Ross, I went into surgery feeling truly at ease, and that’s a gift I’ll never forget. He embodies what the DAISY Award represents, clinical excellence paired with compassion, empathy, and a heart for healing.
Note: This is Ross's 2nd DAISY Award!
