March 2023 Honoree
Roxanne Glasgow-Pope, BSN, RN
In the current healthcare climate, we have many nurses who lack experience and sometimes even the confidence necessary for the fast-paced Pediatric ED at Hughes Spalding. Roxanne can always be relied upon to take the new inexperienced nurses under her wing. When a nurse is trained by G Pope, you can be assured that their training is thorough. A few months ago, a young lady walked to use the restroom. To everyone's surprise including the patient, she was in labor. Roxanne took the role of ME for the medical emergency which is usually documentation focused. In addition to the documentation, Roxanne was able to conduct the orchestra of physicians and other members of the team who have limited Labor and Delivery experience. She remained cool and calm amidst the frenzy and ensured the charting and care of both mother and baby were top-notch by ensuring all the appropriate actions were taken and documented. She is a leader, teacher, mentor, and caregiver. This is just one example of why Roxanne exemplifies what Nursing means.
Thank you, Roxanne, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
