Dr. Roxanne Hauber’s work as an educator, researcher, and nurse are laudatory. Over the past few years she has developed the outstanding collaborative working relationship with Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in pursuit of Magnet status, a prestigious institutional recognition. She has help guide the TMH research council’s efforts in improving the research endeavors. She has also been instrumental in developing the TMH Center of Excellence at the FSU College of Nursing. This center will advance the nursing body of knowledge both at the school and in the community. Dr. Hauber enthusiastically developed the Doctorate of Nursing Practice Genetics course. This course is designed to facilitate understanding of genetics and emerging diseases and their impact on professional nursing practice. The students have been so involved and enthusiastic in the course material that many of them have or are planning to submit their genetics papers on emerging disease for publication. One student did publish her paper on Dengue Fever in a "The Nurse Practitioner Journal. " Dr. Hauber is always looking for innovative approaches to nursing education which makes her involvement in the undergraduate curriculum noteworthy. She spends countless hours on honing the curriculum to best serve students and faculty. This work has resulted in a > 93% NCLEX pass rate for our undergraduate students. Dr. Hauber is the best choice for the Daisy Award for 2012-2013.
