She was empathetic and gave me the biggest hug when we were done.
Roxy goes above and beyond for her patients. She received THREE nominations for the DAISY award in the last six months, which is very impressive in itself. One of the nominations was a touching voicemail that left those who attended Roxy’s DAISY award presentation, in tears. You could hear the patient holding back tears as she explained her experience with Roxy. She was here for breast cancer surgery; everyone was kind to her, but Roxy stood out. She held the patient’s hand while she cried, comforted her, and told her everything was going to be all right. “You don’t have to call me back, I just want you to know that nurse was the best nurse I ever had in my life,” she said.
The second nomination was from a patient who was getting a routine mammogram done when they immediately took her for an ultrasound and 2 biopsies. In a scary situation, Roxy was by her side the whole time, “she was empathetic and gave me the biggest hug when we were done,” the patient explained. “I've never had a nurse like her. She was absolutely amazing.”
In her third nomination, the patient was getting a breast biopsy done. She was hesitant because she had a traumatic experience at another location attempting to do the same biopsy. “I almost cried with relief at how much better the experience was,” the patient said. “You can tell how much Roxy truly cares about her patients and their well-being, for her it seems to be more of a calling than a job.”
