I'm living today because of the love and care of this incredible nurse professional, neighbor, and friend.
A year and a half ago, I walked over to Roxanne's house, just across the street, for a coffee chat. She noticed I was huffing and puffing unusually. This had been concerning me, but no previous doctor nor emergency room visits over the last couple of years revealed anything. Roxanne was insistent that I see a cardiologist for an evaluation immediately. She didn't wait. She picked up the phone and made an appointment with an available Evergreen cardiologist at 2:30 that afternoon! Lo and behold, an echocardiogram revealed severe mitral valve regurgitation, leading to open heart surgery within two months. 15 months later, I'm operating beautifully with a repaired mitral valve.
Roxanne defines professionalism in her consistent care for others, not only for me but for others outside of her regular duties in emergency care. She works alongside medical teams in Haiti, Cambodia, and locally working with the SANE/FNE team on sexual assault cases. What resonates with both me and my husband is that Roxanne performs her responsibilities as a nurse with such ease and a genuine sense of humanity.
I can't say enough about this strong, caring, insightful, very enjoyable women. Proud to call her a friend and thankful that I'm here today to say these words.
