My mother has gastric cancer and last year in Overlook the told me to let her "go". But my mother is a special human being to a large family who needs and respects her as a role model. I cannot say this mattered to most health professionals. She lived more than a few weeks, but in fact, over a year!
Rox, her nurse, "gets it", the real value of life. His compassion for his patients is beyond his medical expertise and is exemplary. His responsiveness to even going to the bathroom is beyond what I have seen. He is sensitive to how humiliating this can be and makes it the best he can for the patient. The big tasks and the critical ones are all taken care of without asking but it is the smaller items he gives equally to which is his compassion to perform his job. ALL around what is best for the patient and supportive to the family.
Thank you, Rox, from the entire family.
