Roz was the Charge Nurse and was instrumental in saving D's life when she was feeling very uncomfortable and ultimately coded.
My wife unexpectedly returned to the 6th floor to deal with ongoing issues with her CHF. Over the New Year, we had also been on the Cardiac floor for similar issues. Roz had taken great care of my wife, D, at that time earlier in the year, and recognized her (me) when we were again her patient only 4 months later. She brought a huge sense of relief and comfort to D. Roz just seemed to naturally "get it" and what needed to be said and done-anticipating D's concerns. Most importantly and noteworthy, days later, she was the Charge Nurse and was instrumental in saving D's life when she was feeling very uncomfortable and ultimately coded. She and the nurse on call reacted immediately and efficiently to elevate the concern. Being in the room when things went south, I was struck by the organized chaos of the response team and the calm and professionalism of all. In particular, Roz was sensitive and aware enough to alert and prepare me for the flurry of what was about to happen and then to appropriately escort me out of the room. Additionally, Roz and the other nurse, stopped by the ICU a few times later in the month to check on D, me, and my family. "Thank you" just doesn't seem to fully express my family's gratitude for all.
