Roz went on her own time to get the patient clothes and supplies.
Roz went out of her way to help a pregnant woman in dire need. This patient came in with no prenatal care, was homeless, and currently withdrawing. Roz spent the time to listen, comfort, and care for her basic needs. Over the two to three days this patient was here, she spent hours trying to get social workers, drug counselors, medical, and HBS involved. This was over a weekend so many of these people were unavailable or were closed. Roz went on her own time to get the patient clothes and supplies for when she was to go home. Roz even spent her own money to buy the patient a phone so when the drug rehab center found a spot for her they could reach her.

The patient was so appreciative of the care that Roz was giving her - she kept saying "thank you" and that she wanted to help and wanted to get clean but I had no idea how to start or anyone to care to help her. Roz gave the patient the hope she needed. I feel that the above-and-beyond care that Roz gave to this patient will allow her to get into and stay in a program. We need more nurses like Roz to give hope to the community that there are people who care and want the best for them.
