LTC ROZANO M GORICHO NC initiated the first class Basic Operating Room Nurse (BORN) Training for both military and civilian nurses of Camp Evangelista Station Hospital (CESH) 4th Infantry Division (4ID), Philippine Army, which will sustain the regular operation schedule of the operating room. Amid the pandemic, LTC GORICHO efficiently facilitated the clinical activities and overall operations of the Nursing Service. He implemented essential measures that empowered the Nursing Service personnel to showcase their capability to provide safe, high-quality nursing care to the community and themselves. He monitored the Nurse-In-Charge of the OPS in setting up the Triage Area of the hospital and drafted guidelines to be followed in that section under the “New Normal.” LTC GORICHO consistently ensures that CESH maintains sustainable connections with the Department of Health (DOH), PhilHealth, Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and various Local Government Agencies (LGAs). This collaboration has greatly benefited the troops and their families through approved requests for family planning supplies (condoms, pills, etc.), TB-DOTS medications, test kits, vaccines, social support, and other medical supplies that provide considerable financial savings for the institution. Consequently, he ensures that the personnel of this unit align with the projects and initiatives of the DOH, including raising awareness regarding Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and the prevention of Tuberculosis (TB). Under his guidance, the Nursing Service HIV Team conducted a series of lectures and seminars targeting Candidate Soldier applicants, RRT students, Basic Citizen Military Training (BCMT) Trainees, ROTC members, and troops of 4ID. In this context, the TB-DOTS program at CESH has been acknowledged as one of the two centers in Region X that are fully compliant with the standards set by the DOH. Moreover, during his tenure, the hospital was honored by Tingug Cagayan De Oro as the “Outstanding Service Provider” for its delivery of HIV and AIDS-related services.
