Ruby is always calm and caring when it comes to caring for her patients. She takes the time to get to know them and truly care for them.

One night Ruby admitted a patient to the unit and took the time to fill out our "About Me" on a patient who could not sleep and was very restless, at 0300 I heard a calm quiet voice asking a patient what was his favorite color and food. The patient really seemed to appreciate the time Ruby took to find out what interested him and not just what his medical history was. Ruby made him feel like a person again and not a patient. Ruby's priority has always been and will continue to be her patients and their families.

Every day I work with Ruby I learn something new because she does not go by the "this is what we've always done rule" Ruby is always looking up the hospital policies to make sure that we are complying with the proper way to either do trach care, change a certain dressing, administer a certain drug or to just increase our knowledge as a new nurse.. This is why Ruby deserves to be a DAISY Nurse, she makes everyday feel like a win for the staff and her patients.

Ruby goes above and beyond every day and comes in with a smile everyday no matter what.
