San Antonio Regional Hospital
Ruby was soothing in wiping my mom's face, telling her to relax, and telling her that her daughters were outside the room and loved her.
Ruby was exceptional in taking care of my mom in some of her last days in the SICU. My mom was admitted on a Thursday with COVID complications but had many underlying conditions, and we knew that she was not going to survive. Ruby arranged a FaceTime call between my mom and us on Thursday night and was also there when my sister and I were in SICU on Friday. Ruby was so kind, thoughtful, and compassionate. She was soothing in wiping my mom's face, telling her to relax, and telling her that her daughters were outside the room and loved her. Just that extra touch of loving care made such a difference to us, to know my mom was well taken care of. I am sure it made a difference to my mom too. Mom passed away peacefully on Sunday morning in another wing of the hospital. I wanted to make this nomination because I know my mom would have wanted it, and also to make sure that an exceptional nurse is recognized for the difference she made in my mom's last days with us.
