Ruth has been part of the DCH team for 20 years. She has demonstrated compassion, commitment, and respect for every patient, family member, and peer. Ruth shows compassion by smiling and using a soothing voice to comfort her patients. Ruth will sit next to a patient whether it be young or old and explain to the patient and family openly and honestly on what to expect while they are at the hospital.
Ruth was recognized by the parents of a pediatric patient. They appreciated that Ruth kept them informed during their ER visit. The parents also felt at ease after Ruth explained everything.
A co-worker observed Ruth taking time to sit with a confused patient who was anxious and unwilling to stay in bed. Ruth sat with the patient, massaging the patient's hands and singing to the patient. The patient was able to relax and rest for a while.
Ruth displays confidence and staff are comfortable with going to Ruth with questions and she provides positive feedback to staff.
