February 2022 Honoree
Ruth Bierschenk, RN
J was scheduled for a stress test, but before the procedure she had some medical issues come up. It was already stressful having cardiac symptoms that required a stress test, but now hearing she had other diagnoses added to the stress. Ruth spent 30 minutes with J on the phone discussing her diagnosis and how to care for that. When J apologized for bothering Ruth with questions regarding her health – Ruth replied, “I’m so glad you called, I will help you”. Ruth spent time explaining the process for rescheduling the test and the next steps to getting that done. Ruth showed: sympathy, kindness, and all the good traits of nursing. Ruth truly modeled what every patient and nurse encounter should look and feel like.
Thank you, Ruth, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
