Ruth initiated and developed an extremely successful and growing Diabetes program. She spends several hours with each patient ensuring that each patient has the skills and knowledge to self-manage his or her Diabetes. She makes herself available to the patients at hours that are convenient for the patient. She was awarded a grant to provide Diabetes screening to the community. This has identified several people with Diabetes or pre-Diabetes that were unknown. This community benefit was provided by Ruth on weekends/evenings/off hours at various community locations in the area.
Ruth gives freely of her time and talents while always putting the patient before her own. She is a positive person and a team player. Her co-workers have learned a lot from her as she is also a great teacher/mentor. She is an inspiration to everyone she comes in contact with as she always provides encouraging words with care and concern for all people.
Ruth Fluke was nominated by her co-workers and a spouse of a new Diabetic that was identified at our Men's Health Community event. This gentlemen had numerous symptoms but did not go to his physician until finding out the results of his Hemoglobin A1C which was done free as a community outreach. He is now on a diet/exercise regimen and is taking medication to control his Diabetes.
