Recently, a patient pushed his way into the nurse's station on Ward C8. The last time this happened, the patient caused damage to staff and property. This time, Ruth Nganga entered the nurse's station, sat down with the patient, and, through therapeutically engaging with the patient, was able to calm him down and redirect him back out of the nurse's station. And convinced him to take some PRN medication. She continued to sit with him in the day area and continued to engage with him therapeutically. This was a situation that could have gone very badly. All of the staff were afraid as in the previous incident, several staff were injured and required emergency room treatment. Ruth is described by her nurse manager as a natural born leader, she is strong in her decision making. She works all wards without issue. Ruth is an understanding and kind person. Ruth is an excellent RN3 on ward C8 swings shift. Ruth follows through with her job and the tasks given to her.
