During an evening shift change the day shift RN, Ruth Yimer, noticed one of her night shift RNs was not feeling well. Ruth was very concerned about her co-worker. So she refused to initiate report and immediately informed the Rehab Charge Nurse and House Supervisor along with the STAT Team. Ruth immediately noticed the co-worker was showing signs of a heart attack or MI.
Because Ruth was so proactive to help her co-worker, he was immediately assessed by the STAT Team and taken to the ER. The co-worker received immediate life-saving treatment that evening.
Today Ruth's co-worker is back at work on the Rehab Unit and doing well.
Ruth Yimer is a very kind and compassionate person and an excellent nurse. As soon as she realized the night shift nurse was not feeling well she took immediate action and was completely unselfish and only had concerns for his health and well being.
The Department Director stated: "Ruth is a very kind and compassionate nurse. She shows kindness and compassion to her patients and co-workers. Ruth is always willing to go the extra mile."
