Ruthie is special to me because before I even knew she would be my attending nurse I was walking in the hallway getting my steps in and just when I felt like I needed to go back to my bed she came out of nowhere and motivated me by saying, "Get those steps in girl!" She gave me a boost of energy and I told my husband that I would like to continue to walk a little longer. When I got to meet her finally, she was just the spark of energy I needed to get up and use the restroom and do my incentive spirometer.
Ruthie is extraordinary at what she does, and she should never stop because she gives you hope you didn't know you had and strength you never thought you could use especially after having your appendix removed. The care that she gives is just like the care she would give to her own family member and that's how I felt, like a sister to her and that she was going to do everything in her power to make me feel better.
