February 2020 Honoree
ryan devera, RN
We had a full day of three appointments and one Ultrasound scheduled for my son. During the visit, a CT scan was recommended to assess the site of previous open-heart surgery. Every provider we saw tried their absolute hardest to make sure we could get the test done while we were at the main campus and avoid intubation and anesthesia. Our son is not a candidate for sedation due to Trisomy 21. The PA we saw from cardiothoracic surgery made several phone calls on our behalf and did not stop until we were taken care of. Once we made it back to CT, Ryan, a nurse in the sedation area was an absolute lifesaver. He set us up to comfort and feed our six-month-old son. He took him for us, got him to sleep and got the imaging done without anesthesia, and even took him to give us a break. He was amazing and made sure our little one got what he needed and made the whole process so much less stressful. I can't even express the gratitude I have for him. He's saved us from additional trips to the main campus where he'd be put under for the test. Now we'll get the information we need to move forward with caring for our son safely and without any delay.
Thank you, Ryan, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
