It was a full circle moment for him as he saw what happened, helped her, and got others to jump in to help her, and then on his unit where she fully recovered and was released.
Ryan Eastman is a stellar nurse. He always goes above and beyond to help his patients in the ICU at Upstate in Syracuse, NY. He works extra hours just to help the facility when they need him. He is always willing to help any and everyone that needs help. He picks up shifts if they call him to help on the unit/ floor. He has a family that he takes care of and a daughter that is going to nursing school because he is such a great example. He knows everyone and definitely goes above his role as an ICU nurse to help everyone.
One great story Ryan told me was while working an elderly lady was walking by and accidentally got hit by a car while he was on break out front of the hospital. He rushed to her side and got her the medical attention she needed. He went into the facility and had others come help and bring her into the hospital. He was worried about her a few days later and she ended up in the ICU for a brain bleed and he was able to help care for her as she recovered. It was a full circle moment for him as he saw what happened, helped her, and got others to jump in to help her, and then on his unit where she fully recovered and was released. He said he will always remember that day as he saved her life.
Note: This is Ryan's 2nd DAISY Award!
