Ryan Figueroa, RN
Recently, I had a healthy patient who received IV contrast for a CTA. The patient had the most dramatic anaphylactic reaction I have ever seen. They had a brief LOC and systolic in the 40s.
This patient, however, had the good fortune of having Ryan as their RN. Ryan immediately acknowledged the reaction, notified me, and had meds ready to go.
Although it sounds corny to say he saved the patient’s life, he most certainly did! Any delay would have led to further hypotension and I’m sure we would have been coding this otherwise healthy 38-year-old.
It is always a pleasure to work with Ryan. He works so hard and makes it seem easy and fluid all the while having fun.
Ryan’s recent efforts deserve this DAISY Award.
This patient actually called the doctor to thank him for saving his life. The doctor let him know it was Ryan who did!
