I have had the opportunity to work with Ryan on multiple levels. Ryan is an exceptional leader and RN. He goes above and beyond for any staff member, regardless of the department and patients that he serves. Ryan is always checking in on staff, not only in the ED, but other departments, to see how they are doing and to provide assistance when needed. He has positive energy, a caring and empathic presence, and goes out of his way to help in whatever manner he can.

I also have had the opportunity to see Ryan's care, empathy, gentleness, and strength while working with patients. While I was in the ED, where my father was admitted, my father was extremely ill and could not walk due to a recent surgery, alongside other medical issues going on. Ryan was not aware that I was with my father and I observed him immediately come to assist the nurses and techs with getting my father onto the bed. He was gentle, kind, supportive, and empathic, and he did not hesitate to take the lead and direct the other staff on how to navigate my father getting onto the bed when he was in excruciating pain. When I took off my hat, Ryan saw me and continued to work hard on my father, ensuring that he was safe, comfortable, and taken care of. He offered me support after finishing with my father. About an hour later, he came back to check on my father to make sure he was as comfortable and safe as he could be. He also checked on me also and offered me a cup of tea! I have been in this field for over 25 years and Ryan is the best RN and ED leader that I have ever met. He is extremely intelligent, positive, supportive, caring, dedicated, passionate, and SCHS is so lucky to have him. I highly regard him as a fellow manager, RN, and overall human being.
