My fiancé, R, had a tumor removal surgery. The tumor ended up being larger than expected, which required a skin graph and a bolster in his mouth. Upon waking up, my fiancé had a panic attack due to his claustrophobia. Saying he felt like he could not breathe. Ryan immediately explained step by step what was going on. He listened via pen and paper to how R was feeling. The first thing he said was ‘I’m in no rush to leave you, I am here for you as long as you need. I’m not interested in rushing you out the door.’ He proceeded to check in on R’s progress every 15 min for the next 3 hours. He allowed ALL 3 of us in the end to make the decision to have him spend the night. He immediately made all the phone calls to find him a room and helped him get comfortable with his situation. Without Ryan, I feel like I would have struggled to make comfortable decisions. He gave us the confidence to make it through a difficult event. R and I are so grateful that people like Ryan are here for our Veterans. Especially mine! God Bless!
