Ryan was recognized by the niece of a patient he cared for. The patient was admitted to ICU after suffering a stroke after a surgical procedure and put on Hospice care. The patient loved music, as does Ryan. The family had several CDs of their uncle playing and singing music and would often play them in his room. Ryan would come in and turn up the music while he was taking care of him. The niece referred to her uncle and Ryan as "kindred spirits". She went on to talk about how much care and concern Ryan showed her uncle during a very difficult time in their lives. They will never forget his kindness and felt very comforted by his knowledge.
