I brought my husband to Cannon Memorial Hospital ED Department, with what we thought was a kidney stone.
My husband was in severe pain and Ryan was very attentive and helping to control that pain. Unfortunately, after receiving CAT scan results it was discovered my husband had an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Ryan very calmly came in and told my husband he needed a larger IV and that the physician would need to speak with him. He was always very calm supportive and compassionate with my husband and me.
I am a hospice nurse and by the time we knew that my husband was going to fly to WakeMed, I had been up for over 24 hours. Ryan and the doctor both made sure that I was not going to drive myself to Wake and were helping to look for a ride if I could not find one. Ryan offered to sit with me until my ride arrived knowing that he had worked all night and would have to work again that night.
Ryan never once gave up hope with my husband even though the AAA was so large, we both suspected he would not make it. Ryan's care for my husband and his compassion for me are why he is a true DAISY Nurse.
