On Thursday we moved from cardiac ICU to PCU after my father had a quadruple bypass and aortic valve replacement. I want to say that EVERY single nurse and PCT that cared for my father was beyond fabulous, what a great group! But there was one nurse who rose to the top. Ryan had my dad for three 12 hour shifts in a row at a time when he was fresh out of ICU. Ryan had an instant rapport with all of us. His sense of humor was matched only by my father's. Ryan is an excellent critical thinker, his attentiveness and compassion were exactly what we needed. Is there one particular thing or incident he did that makes him deserve this award? No, it was the sum of everything he did every day for 3 days that left a huge impact on all of us. Nursing is a stressful profession, especially in the last 2 years. Ryan did it all with ease and confidence, compassion and understanding of my dad's needs. He is a true DAISY Nurse.
