Sabine has long been the nurse that the DAISY Award was created for, many times I have witnessed her drive and leadership. Along with that no matter how busy it is, she never forgets that it is a person in the bed.

This past weekend when admissions were being "fired like machine guns" and everyone needed her for some major disaster, she took the time to hold the hand of a man who was crying. He was with his wife of 30 years and she was dying. She took the time to listen to his story of their lovely marriage and let him cry and tucked him into bed beside her. That was their last night together as she died the next afternoon. He never stopped talking about the importance of the last night he had with his wife.
