This month, that dedication was celebrated extraordinarily—Sabita was honored with the prestigious DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award at a heartwarming ceremony in Midland Memorial Hospital’s HR Lobby.

Created to spotlight nurses who have devoted their lives to the compassionate care of others, the DAISY Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals who mentor, inspire, and actively advocate for their patients while promoting the noble profession of nursing. Sabita Singh embodies every quality this award was designed to honor.

Sabita’s story is one of lifelong learning, leadership, and care. A proud graduate of Odessa College, Sabita’s career as a Registered Nurse (RN) spans over three decades, during which she has profoundly impacted patients, colleagues, and her community. Whether in nursing homes or hospital settings, her ability to calm fears with the tone of her voice and skillful techniques has left an indelible mark on those she serves.

Sabita has continually expanded her expertise, holding certifications in Med/Surg and Occupational Health Nursing. Recently, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), exemplifying her commitment to growth and learning. Her willingness to evolve and bring innovative approaches to her roles has made her an invaluable part of the nursing community.

While her technical skills shine, it’s Sabita’s heart that truly sets her apart. She has spent years as a TPAPN advisor, compassionately guiding fellow nurses through their recovery journeys from addiction. Additionally, her work on the workplace violence committee, alongside her involvement in advancing the career ladder within nursing, has created a safer and more fulfilling environment for her peers.

Sabita’s influence reaches far beyond her own professional achievements. An ardent supporter of nursing students, she has mentored countless new nurses, offering guidance, encouragement, and sharing her wisdom. Her colleagues in the nursing community know her as an advocate who lifts others up and a role model whose actions inspire all who have the privilege of working with her.

Since joining Midland Memorial Hospital as an Occupational Health Nurse, Sabita has implemented key initiatives that have streamlined processes and increased efficiency. From launching an employee portal to deploying vaccine-tracking QYK devices, Sabita’s forward-thinking contributions have had a significant impact—a hallmark of her dedication to excellence.

Sabita’s leadership and kindness make her a beloved figure within the Midland Health community. Her unique blend of expertise, empathy, and tireless advocacy has earned her the admiration of patients, colleagues, and her professional peers.
