Sabrina Davis' supervisor was referred to this case when a floor nurse called to report the gratitude one family had expressed about Davis' care for their family member. After looking over the file, it was apparent that Davis went above and beyond to meet the patient and family's needs. The patient was originally designated by their insurance company to a subacute facility outside of the county and was desperate to be discharged to a facility closer to their family. Instead of moving on, Davis called the patient's insurance company multiple times, spending hours on the phone relaying the patient's wishes. Her persistence resulted in the insurance company changing their mind and moving the patient to be closer to family. "I was so impressed by her work and determination," her supervisor said, "Convincing the insurance company to change their mind is no small task. Our entire team operates like this. They are the silent workers behind the scenes making sure that patients and their families have the care they need before and after leaving the hospital."
