We had a minimally English-speaking Burmese patient come into the ER with high sugars. Sabrina spent a lot of extra time, through a translator, which is challenging and time consuming in and of itself, with diabetes education including showing him how to perform finger sticks.
In addition, with his permission, Sabrina spoke with the nurse at his job to arrange for them to manage his care while at work. This was a genuine effort to advocate for his care/health.
