At a time of unknowns, Sabrina was the first to care for our son, a 17-year-old UT college student who was hit by a car. During this time, we were unable and unsure of how to help our son, but Sabrina cared for him as if he were her own child. She cleaned him from head to toe, removing dirt, debris, and blood with gentleness and dignity. She ensured that his skin was protected, thereby eliminating and preventing future problems.

Beyond the physical care, she offered something more powerful: compassion. Sabrina spoke to him even though he could not respond. She explained every step, reassuring him and treating him with the utmost respect. Her calming presence helped ease our family’s anxiety and gave us peace knowing someone cared for our son as a person and not just as a patient. She consistently advocated for him and created an environment that brought a sense of normalcy to an otherwise chaotic and traumatic time.

What stood out the most was Sabrina's ability to balance Clinical Excellence with heartfelt compassion. In our most helpless moments, she stepped in not just as a nurse but as a source of strength. She gave our family the space to begin healing by showing us that our son was in the best hands possible. For her extraordinary care, diligence, and heartfelt compassion, our family honestly believes that Sabrina embodies everything the DAISY Award represents.
