I want to recognize the great care and wonderful compassion that Sadie provided to a patient on comfort care who had just been admitted to her unit. The patient did not have any family present and when he arrived it was noticed that he was going to pass away soon. Sadie spent time with the patient as the staff got him settled. She held his hand as he passed so that he would not die alone. Tonight, I saw her compassion in caring for a dying man. She embodies the meaning of being a nurse! This is one of many interactions I have seen Sadie go above and beyond the call of duty. She is an asset on 3rd Surgical and a pleasure to work with on night shift.
