Saege always took the time to talk with them on the phone and lend a listening ear.
Our best friend has been in the hospital and was just moved to CCU on the fourth floor. We can only hope and pray that he will receive the same care there that he received by Saege in the Neuro Unit. Saege is an exceptional nurse. He was very attentive and compassionate. Our friend is on a ventilator and Saege was the only nurse we witnessed brushing his teeth. Not sure how often that is supposed to be done, but we witnessed him doing it twice during our visit. When I asked him why he had to do that, he explained that a person on the ventilator is more susceptible to infection, and doing that helps to kill the bacteria. To some people, that might seem very minuscule considering the circumstances, but it was obvious that he did not take any shortcuts in making sure our friend was getting the care he needed, no matter what. All of our friend’s family is not able to be here and Saege always took the time to talk with them on the phone and lend a listening ear.
His care made it a lot easier to leave the hospital after visiting, because we knew that he was in good hands with Saege there. Our friend is a disabled army veteran and his service to our country should make anyone want to give him the care and respect he deserves. Saege did exactly that! We got to know him on a personal level too and learned that he is engaged to be married, how exciting! Congratulations, Saege! Receiving the DAISY Award would be another blessing in his life. He deserves a good wife and a good life. I am sure there will be many more blessings to come for this young man. Southeast Health Medical Center should be honored to have him on their staff!
