One day during rounds, I was surprised by what I saw. Four of our baby patients were all wearing clothes and not hospital gowns. All the girls were wearing the same dresses in a different shade of color. It was so nice to see them this way, all of them looked lovely. I asked my staff who was assigned to these patients, where and who provided the new clothes for the kids. (I was thinking it was new hospital issued clothes.) I felt surprised and glad when I found out that it was the primary nurse who bought the clothes for the patients, most likely at her own expense. I asked Sajini what her reason was, and she just answered that it was her plan to buy clothes for all the pediatric patients so that they will look more beautiful and presentable. She was thinking that they have congenital problems and they are already her family and even her kids.
Sajini never has any issue in terms of dealing with her colleagues; she is generally soft-spoken and very shy. I am really thankful for what she did and for the kids in our unit, they are very lucky to have her as their primary nurse.
