Sakeek tried to reach me at home. My phone had been off since being all day with my husband, M, in his hospital room. I finally checked my phone later that evening and called Sakeek back. She gently told me, in response to my question, is Martin dying, that yes, he is. I live on Vashon Island and was able to get the last ferry off the island, at 12:15AM. Sakeek made the extra effort to come down to the lobby to let me into the hospital. I climbed into bed with M and asked Sakeek to tell me what happened and what medications M had been given. She lovingly told me, and carefully explained. When Sakeek's shift ended, she opened the door to the room and waved. I didn't realize she would be leaving and just waved back. I have regretted so much that I did not get to tell her how grateful I was to have her gentle, direct help at the time of M's transaction. And I know she was a confident, loving person to help steady M and ease him into comfort. Like an angel hopping around!

Thank you, Sakeek, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
