I would like to recognize Sally Reda for her care and compassion, which went above and beyond what is expected. 

Sally recently assisted in the care of a very anxious and hypertensive patient who was in a state of emotional distress. While managing the clinical aspects of care, Sally demonstrated remarkable attention to the patient's emotional well-being.  She used non-pharmacological techniques like deep breathing exercises and empathetic communication to help calm the patient. 

One specific moment that stood out was when the patient declined the applesauce and crackers offered on the floor, asking if we had yogurt instead. Unfortunately, we didn’t have any, but rather than forgetting the request, Sally went out of her way to visit the cafeteria and personally purchase a yogurt for the patient. While this is not always possible, the joy and relief on the patient’s face when she received the yogurt were truly heartwarming, and it was a small act that made a huge impact on their experience here at NYU.

In the fast-paced nature of healthcare, it's easy to forget that we are all human, and small gestures like this remind us of the impact we can have on our patients.  Sally's actions demonstrate the true meaning of going above and beyond, not just fulfilling job requirements, but promoting the well-being of her patients in meaningful ways.
