It was wonderful watching Sally work; she constantly monitored his medical condition and gave medications to control his pain.
Nighttime is the hardest time when you are sick or uncomfortable. That was especially true for my younger brother J while he was in the intensive care unit. He had a brain bleed that caused pain and pressure, and overall, he was uncomfortable, which caused him to move around a lot. Nurse Sally kindly gave us permission to stay with him overnight, which was fantastic because we were starting to realize his time with us was limited. It was wonderful watching Sally work; she constantly monitored his medical condition and gave medications to control his pain. Just as important, she showed such kindness and patience when she needed to reposition him, rearrange his bedding and gown, and make adjustments to keep him comfortable. This happened many, many times that night, sometimes only minutes after she had left the room. We knew she had other patients, duties, and paperwork, but you couldn’t tell by her actions and attitude. She was patient and kind, every single time. We want Sally to be honored because she is a fantastic nurse; her knowledge and skills were in full display as she worked with my brother and his difficult, changing medical condition. She did a great job communicating and educating us as family. And mostly because Sally is an awesome person, so kind, considerate, and patient with my brother and us as family. One very difficult night was made much better for J and us by Sally. We will forever be grateful for her, especially since Jim passed away the next day. Thank you, Sally!
