When patients and their family hear a diagnosis of cancer, their "normal" disappears. While the doctors, nurses and other medical professionals go about the complex business of slaying the cancer beast, you wonder if life will ever be okay. Then a nurse enters the room and you know innately that it will be. In my husband's case that nurse was Samantha Cinadr. Nursing is not only a science, it is an art. Sam provided extraordinarily competent and compassionate clinical care. Consistently she exhibited great warmth in conjunction with leadership and strength. Our granddaughter, a nursing student, spent a great deal of time with her grandfather during recovery. Sam patiently allowed her to observe what she was doing, explaining each step she was taking and why. She is serving, by her words and deeds, as a goodwill ambassador for Porter Hospital. The care she gave my husband and the support she offered our family was a blessing, a gift. We are forever grateful.
