Sam McLeod, RN
Sam’s knowledge and compassion for my husband and for me were far above what I have seen or dealt with in other hospice companies. If she didn’t have an answer, she got one quickly. She came in, talked to see what was going on, and then started working or explaining what we needed to change or to continue to do.
The last week of my husband’s life (we didn’t know it was coming as quickly as it did), there were situations where Sam was on the phone talking me through things on Monday and Tuesday. When I didn’t call her on Wednesday, she called me, “Just a feeling, “ she said. She "needed to check in", and I was at my wits’ end. She calmed me, then came to help me.
On Thursday, she, along with Melissa and your NP, took over my husband’s needs. They told me to rest. On Friday, when he passed, she was here taking care of all the main calls and showing so much love and compassion to me.
It’s really hard to put into words how she has helped me. She really deserves the DAISY Award. I knew from the first day that we met that she was a right fit for us. I am sure that she shows the same love and compassion to all of her patients.
