Sam Muchiri works on the Orthopedic Unit at NKCH. He has been a nurse for 2 years and is currently enrolled in an Advanced Practice Nursing program while working Full Time. Sam was nominated for the DAISY Award by two different families. In each case, the patient was an older gentleman (one a retired policeman and the other was a retired physician) and the nomination came from daughters who noticed Sam's special ability and his efforts to maintain the dignity of their loved one while he provided care. He was cited also for his utmost respect and compassion. Sam is frequently complimented by patients and family members for his personable and attentive approach, his thorough explanations and his ability to individualize his interventions to meet the needs of each patient.
