Samantha Andrews, BSN, RN

Samantha cared for my father when we came into the ER. We weren’t sure what was going on, but after some time, it was established that my dad had had strokes and metastatic cancer in his brain. This was his last doctor's appointment, as he passed away the following night. This was a very difficult situation for all involved, as he lost lucid thought and comprehension. An extremely kind and compassionate man, he suffered and became extremely irritable and angry shortly before death.

Samantha, only a nurse for about a year, rose to the occasion with attentiveness, understanding, and compassion. Unfortunately, my dad was very agitated and gave her and the other staff a hard time. She was patient, calm, and professional throughout. This was one of the toughest dynamics I can imagine as a relatively new nurse. My mother and I were a wreck, and the situation was very unnerving for everyone involved. We wanted to express our gratitude and highlight Sam’s skills under pressure. Thank you
