Samantha Barfield, RN
The patient was D. She had a massive heart attack and had just come out of surgery into the ICU. D went unconscious and into cardiac arrest, and Samantha quickly started resuscitation. Samantha's team joined her and revived D.
On the same night, Samantha sat outside D's room the entire night. Samantha was not only a saving angel but also a tremendous comfort to D during her entire stay in the ICU. Her professionalism and compassionate demeanor were evident. Our family personally thanked Samantha for saving D's life, and the cardiologist also said that Samantha's quick and decisive actions saved D's Life.
We would like to take this opportunity to also let McLeod Health know what kind of exceptional nurse as well as person that they have in Samantha, we highly recommend her for the DAISY Award and would like very much to share in her experience if awarded because without her, our family would have undoubtedly lost a wife, mother, sister and a friend to many.
